THE CRIMEAN WAR

The Crimean War was an armed conflict between the Russian Empire and the alliance of the United Kingdom, France and the Ottoman Empire, which ran from 1853-1856. Russia was trying to reach an agreement with the Turks for having as their own the protection of the orthodox Christians of turkey and of the holy saint places. On March 30, 1856 it was signed in Paris the agreement that put end to the conflict.  This war led the beginnings of the unification of Germany and Italy. Much of the war took place in the Crimean peninsula in the Black Sea.
