Paraguay was owned by Spain for many years
but like all other colonies they sought their own independence. As a result of
the inequality and discrimination, Paraguayans started a plan for having their
freedom back before Bonaparte conquered them too. We could even say that by the
Napoleonic invasion of Spain, a group of Paraguayans could hit the independence
b that night of May 14, 1811.
The first plan was to make them believe that they all lived in peace, but this was spoiled when rebels fought with weapon in hand. Independence was mostly achieved thanks to political party leader Bernardo De Velasco.
